Epic Meal Time: The Great Nutella Pyramid

Posted: 14 Jun 2014 04:00 AM PDT

The Pyramids of Giza. One of the classic seven wonders of the world.  Awe-inspiring, mysterious monuments to a model of early civilization. But let's face facts: they ain't made of Nutella.

Watch this video from the guys at Epic Meal Time and let them school you on the eighth wonder of the world: a pyramid made of Nutella and Rice Krispies Treats. This pyramid isn't the final resting place of an ancient Pharaoh  even better. Here lies a delectably crispy bacon mummy (in a s'mores sarcophagus, to ensure spiritual purity).

How did these mere mortal men move the heavy Rice Krispies bricks into place on this nearly 73,000-calorie, 2,490-fat-gram snack? Who cares?! Epic Meal Time! Via Unique Daily.

Behold The Glory Of Tiny Kanye

Posted: 14 Jun 2014 02:00 AM PDT

Something something Tiny Kaaannyeee, standin’ next to Kim K., something something Tiny Kaaaannyyeeee, you look better when you’re tiiiinnyyyyy!(Sung to the tune of Michael Scott's version of Tiny Dancer)

There’s something about Kanye West’s massive ego, and ridiculously overpublicized life with the head Kardashian, that makes you want to bust him down a few notches, which is probably why these ridiculous photoshopped images of Tiny Kanye look so darn right!

And when Kim’s done sharing the Hollywood spotlight with Mr. Kardashian West she can simply slip him into her Prada handbag until she requires his tiny services once again.

Tiny Kanye is now the hip-hoppinest accessory money can buy- pick up your own Tiny Kanye today!

Joey and His Water Bottle

I’ve always used a spray bottle of water to train cats not to climb on the kitchen counters or claw the curtains. It’s worked pretty well up until we got a cat who enjoyed being sprayed. But that’s nothing compared to Joey.

Joey is obsessed with water. He loves to drink from a bucket, a faucet, or even a shower. But his favorite water comes from his beloved spray bottle. According to Hillary D, he will wake up from a nap and come running when he hears the water bottle shake. -via Laughing Squid

Why Math Teachers Love Math

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 11:00 PM PDT

Why do math teachers love math? Because it makes people cry! That's what this viral photo making its round on the web purportedly say (After all, math = mental abuse to humans, amirite?).

But we know the truth: you love math because it's got problems. Lots of problems that make your life seems so easy and smooth in comparison.

Cheetah Cub Meets Puppy

Ruuxa, a 6-week-old male cheetah at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, meets Raina, a 7-week-old Rhodesian ridgeback puppy. These two will be together 24 hours a day as they grow up. You’ve seen how cheetahs are often paired with a dog when they cannot grow up with their siblings. Ruuxa, who has no siblings and was rejected by his mother, has been chosen to be a “cheetah ambassador,” and the domestic dog will help keep him calm and socialized. -via Tastefully Offensive

Perpetual Slinky Treadmill

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 08:00 PM PDT

If I had this, my life would be COMPLETE! Behold, the most amazing thing you'll see today: perpetual Slinky treadmill. God knows how many laws of thermodynamics this lil' puppy has broken* just today (no actual treadmill required and less complicated than the Slink-O-Matic!)

Actually, it's the NESM or Never Ending Slinky Machine, by the folks over at Creatables. The Slinky treadmill is powered by USB connection and is perfectly angled to keep your Slinky "slinking" downhill as long as you keep the treadmill powered.

It's the perfect accompaniment to The Most Useless Machine you've undoubtedly got in your cabinet of curiosities (what? you don't have one?)

*Joking: You can't break the laws of thermodynamics, unless you're an entangled particle. Or Allen Ginsberg.

Terracotta Warriors Made of Pizza Dough

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 07:00 PM PDT

Food artist Annabel de Vetten-Peterson of Conjurer’s Kitchen specializes in intricate and often macabre baked goods, turned her skills to history in order to celebrate the opening of the 500th Pizza Express restaurant. That restaurant happened to be in Beijing, so she made little recreations of China’s famed terracotta warriors out of the company’s pizza dough! The warriors were made for an event a couple weeks ago at the headquarters of the London based pizza chain. -via Nag on the Lake

6 Shockingly Evil Abuses Of Power By School Officials

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 06:00 PM PDT

When you send your kids off to school you’re putting their young lives, and minds, in the hands of many different official school type folks, from teachers to district officials to security personnel, and these folks usually started working in the school system because they liked working with kids.

But, just like any position that comes with a bit of control over other human beings, there are those who take the job because they like being in charge, and sometimes because being in charge means making a lot more money.

Scandals abound in this article which reveals 6 Shockingly Evil Abuses of Power by School Officials, including a case where kids at a vocational school in Rhode Island were being put to work in a sweatshop making and bagging jewelry, and a case of misappropriated school lunch funds in eight California school districts which resulted in $170 million dollars being funneled into staff wages and catered school board meetings, while the kids found the quality of their school lunches lowered through no fault of their own.

It's enough to make you wanna home school your kids!

Spain-based illustrator Marilen Adrover takes an artistic jaunt into Legendary Heroines Gone Wild territory with her delightfully scandalous portraits of characters such as Snow White and Goldilocks in police custody. These feminine offenders stare shamelessly into the Camera of The Man, displaying bold, decidedly unrepentant expressions. I hope you left the dwarves alone, Snow White.

Who Let the Dogs Out? Who? Who?

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 04:00 PM PDT

There was a mystery afoot about ten years ago at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London. Someone was letting the dogs out of their kennels at night, and they were eating up all the dog food! First the staff was blamed, then intruders were suspected, and finally they set up cameras to catch the perpetrator.

Digital Artist Brings His Dreams To Life Via Image Manipulation

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 03:00 PM PDT

There are plenty of bad digital photo manipulation projects out there, and people post photoshop disasters on a daily basis that remind us how bad it can be if you go a little too far with that clone stamp or eraser tool, but there are also plenty of digital artists out there using photoshop to create masterful manipulations for the enjoyment of us all.

Martin De Pasquale is one of these photoshop wizards working for the power of good, and with his digital art skills he’s able to bring his wildest dreams, and a few freaky nightmares, to life with lots of visual appeal.

He was even nice enough to post a behind-the-scenes video for us to watch and learn from, so future photoshop fails can be avoided, and budding digital artists can learn to use their powers for good instead of evil.

Up She Goes!

An elderly lady in a shopping mall made the mistake of leaning on the moving escalator handrail before stepping onto the moving steps. You’d expect her to just fall, but up she goes! This security footage is from somewhere in Russia. Since she moved out of camera range, we can only hope that her companion got her pulled back in, or at least that she made it to the top alright. If my youngest daughter saw this, she'd have to try it out on our next trip to the big city.  -via Daily Picks and Flicks

Glass Bottom Hotel Room

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 01:00 PM PDT

Ubud, Bali is no stranger to hotels with beautiful water features. Here is another entry to add to the list: a hotel suite with a tempered glass floor under the bedroom.

The Bambu Indah hotel in Ubud has 13 suites they call houses, and for good reason: each structure is over 100 years old and once served as a bridal house for a Javanese nobleman who was expected to provide a home for his new bride. The houses were dismantled, relocated to the hotel grounds and then reconstructed and restored.

The bedroom of the suite shown here, appropriately named "Udang House" (Shrimp House), is built on a shrimp pond. The suite itself is built over the source of the fresh spring that supplies the hotel's natural pool. Additional perks of the Udang House include an indoor/outdoor shower and a bathroom with a glass tiled roof. I wouldn't mind "roughing it" in this suite for a few days, how about you?

Clickhole: The Ultimate Viral Factory Parody

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 12:00 PM PDT

I saw a reference to a site called Clickhole this morning and had to laugh at how self-aware the name is. But when I went to look, behold, the site was launched by The Onion! From the introduction post:

We don’t like to put any sort of limitation on who we can reach! Instead, ClickHole prefers to think of you and every other person on earth as nothing more than an empty vessel existing purely to share content with other empty vessels. If every vessel does its part, we can make sure our children inherit a world free from non-viral content.

The site is full of content-free content, if that makes any sense at all. You might want to see 5 Iconic Movie Scenes That Were Actually Fake or 8 Touching Pics Of Celebrities And Their Dads while the site lasts. -via Fark

This Is Quite Possibly The Worst Promotional Video Ever Made

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 11:00 AM PDT

(Video Link)

There are all kinds of skilled video editors, motion graphics artist and assorted digital video experts out there you can hire when you need a professional looking video created to promote your business, but the folks who made this hilariously bad promo vid aren't the video artists you're looking for...

Watch as they work their magic on some random video footage, and try to sell themselves by making an on-camera appearance that doesn’t really help their case.

It’s almost painful to watch at times, but how will we know how to make good videos if we don’t have examples of absolutely terrible videos to use as reference?

The Robot Restaurant

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 10:00 AM PDT

In their final days in Tokyo, Jeurgen Horn and Mike Powell took in a night at Shinjuku’s Robot Restaurant. The decor amazed them, but that was just the beginning.

Now, however, it’s showtime. You and your new friends head into the underground theater, take your seats, and await for the spectacle. Soon, the lights go out, the speakers switch on, and giant vehicles appear on either side of the narrow stage, ridden by ladies dressed as Amazonian war princesses from the year 3000. They’re pounding on drums, rotating around the stage, screaming and dancing to the music, and you’re just like… confused. What the hell is happening? It’s hilarious, ridiculous, impressive, overwhelming and pointless in equal measure.

And that’s just Act One! The show encompasses robot boxing, an alien-eating shark, and more weirdness that you can read about (and see videos) at For 91 Days.

An Uruk-Hai Orc Went Shopping One Day...

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 09:00 AM PDT

(Video Link)

People are getting used to seeing strange things going down in cities these days, from flash mobs to human statues to buskers of all types trying to wow audiences and earn a buck, but no matter how desensitized you are seeing a seven foot tall orc walk into a shopping mall, complete with armor and a face only a mother orc could love, is bound to be a bit of a shock.

Luckily, the orc in this video isn’t actually one of Sauron's dark forces, he’s just an over seven foot tall guy named Olivier Richters decked out in an incredibly good costume, with equally amazing makeup by Rossanne Puck Aafjes, and when he hits a Dutch shopping mall looking all fierce and orcy the people react...mostly with nervous laughter!

Green Puppies Born in Spain

Posted: 13 Jun 2014 08:00 AM PDT

Dog breeder Aido Vallelado was shocked to see that a hunting dog had given birth to a litter that included two green puppies! The two were the smallest and weakest of the litter. The female puppy died softly after, but the male is hanging on.

Molina, who breeds hunting dogs with her father Manuel Vallelado, 52, in the Spanish town of Laguna de Duero, said her father had called the puppies the Hulk pups, and joked that she should not get them angry.

The male puppy is now gradually beginning to lose his colouring.

Vet Daniel Valverde is now looking into the cause of death of the female puppy and the dogs' colour.

He said: 'There are no other recorded cases of this happening in Spanish scientific literature. I am carrying out virological and bacteriological tests to try and find an answer.'

A similar case in England a couple of years ago was attributed to an exposure to the substance biliverdin in the womb.  -via Digg

Maze of Infinity

We featured Ron Brinkman's Box of Infinity on May 21st. Meet its Grand Daddy, on exhibit through the 21st of June at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery on Christie Street in New York City. This structure of mirrors is the work of artist Lee Bul, originally from Seoul, Korea and regarded as one of the premier Korean artists of her generation, with work shown in the top art museums worldwide.

This video from The Creators Project, which features several of Bul's pieces, shows the mirrored "maze" at 1:45. Called "Via Negativa," it is constructed of mirrored glass panels that form a seemingly infinite space by reflecting its interior. The outer surface of Via Negativa is lined with mirrors printed with text from a book on self awareness by Julian Jaynes. Bul talks about the meaning behind the artwork and her hope that it provokes those who view it to contemplate their identities.
