USO Supporter, Outside the doors of our USO center in Kandahar, our troops continue their dangerous jobs. Inside, it’s our troops’ home away from home. I’m Penn Walker and I run USO Kandahar – 7,353 miles from the United States. Thousands of men and women risk their lives here every day. It’s my job to make sure they know they’re not alone and they get the rest and relief they need to do their incredibly difficult job. But that’s not possible without you. We only have five more days and still need to raise $91,651 to “Fund the Fourth for Our Troops.” At USO Kandahar, we'll be hosting a Fourth of July celebration for the more than 10,000 troops who will take part, with games, food, music, prizes and a huge dodgeball tournament. Fourth of July celebrations, which celebrate our American way of life, mean the world to our troops. By making sure they can participate in them, you’re letting our troops know how much you appreciate their service and that we’ll stand with them through anything. From World War II, to Korea and Vietnam, to Iraq and Afghanistan. And when our troops return home recovering from the visible or invisible wounds of war, we’re always by their sides. We work with troops 30,000 times every single day, but since we’re not a government agency, we can’t do what we do without your support. As we’re about to celebrate our independence, there’s no better time to give. We must honor those who protect our freedom.
