As Oprah changed direction so did Kate who, at that time, decided to take a six-month sabbatical to the Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.   While traveling in Vietnam, Kate was contacted by LivingSocial to build and manage their new live event and entertainment division in Chicago. Within a year, Chicago became the highest grossing and most successful market in the country. Kate was promoted to oversee the Midwest region, and produced numerous large-scale festivals for the company.
