| July 19 Pack Day Recap
Summer is halfway over, and that meant it was time for MarineParents.com's third Care Package Project™ pack day of 2014! On Saturday, July 19, volunteers from across the country showed their support for our troops by coming to our corporate office in Columbia, MO, to pack and ship care packages to Marines deployed to Afghanistan. This pack day was unique in that, due to a decrease in the number of troops who will be deployed, it was the last of our "traditional" quarterly pack days (don't fear though, we'll still send care packages overseas, just in a different capacity). Additionally, this pack day saw us unveil our newest outreach program, the Wounded, Ill, and Injured Warrior Support Team™, a program that combines elements of three of our previous support programs-Purple Heart Hero Support, the Care Package Project, and Combat Recovery-to provide resources, support, fellowship, and social events to wounded, ill, and injured troops and veterans. MarineParents.com was founded in January 2003 in response to parents' needs to find information and to have a Place to Connect and Share® with one another during their Marine's career. Our free services and connections have expanded to support and educate Marine moms and dads, spouses, families and friends. We've supported more than 400,000 Marine and recruit families during boot camp, training, active duty and deployments. We've shipped more than 38,000 care packages overseas to our Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, sent 90,000 prayers and letters to injured Marines and served thousands of meals to wounded heroes and their families at military treatment facilities on the east and west coasts.
