We had just sat down with our co-founder, Bill Bonner, to discuss his latest book Hormegeddon. That day's reckoning featured an cropped picture from the book's cover. "Does anyone else see an 'image' of a clown in the mushroom explosion image?" the reader asked, leaning in "or should I double check what I put in my tea? I see in a neck in the center, a chin, an open mouth, a round nose, eyes on each side of the nose, no hair on top and clown hair on either side…" … … …
Uhh… what clown?
Heh. Just playing. There is, indeed, a clown there. After talking with Bill about the book, we can tell you the image is fitting. For most of our conversation he was laughing while explaining the folly of central planners.
We'll have video footage from that conversation next week. In fact, you'll especially want to keep your eyes peeled. We're going to making a sweeping change to these reckonings in the next week or so. One we think will build on the changes we've been making already -- like onboarding Jim Rickards and launching his Strategic Intelligence newsletter.
For now, keep your eyes open on Monday for our email. We'll have more information for you then. In the meantime, read on below for this week's top five essays and videos from our daily reckoning website. We had a week of bold predictions -- Jim Rickards painting a picture of 2024, Richard Duncan describing how the world would look if it closed off the easy credit spigot and Bill Bonner on why too much of a good thing leads to disaster.

Oftentimes, the better the intentions, the more harmful centralized power becomes. Then, you get what our co-founder calls "Hormegeddon". That's the name of his latest book. We met with him this week to ask him more about it. Click here to read highlights the conditions necessary for popular delusions and the disasters they lead to. 3) In the 1960s, total credit in the U.S. broke the one trillion dollar mark...and since then, it has expanded over 50 times. But, as our friend and economist Richard Duncan explains, the explosion of credit that's made America prosperous, threatens to take the entire economy down. And that could mean the return of another depression… Click here to watch why. 4) The hum of the printing presses and the steady drip of cheap credit over the past five years made it easy to believe the U.S. economy was in a true recovery.
