How to Beat the Bears

Sunday, October 19, 2014
Dear Investment U Reader,

Andrew Snyder There's a simple common trait among the world's most successful investors. Follow their lead and I'm convinced your wealth will increase dramatically.

What I've found, however, is that it's not a unique strategy or "system" that's common to the top investors.

Value, growth, technical trading... they have all led to immense wealth. But what's common amongst the greats is discipline. They have a plan... and they stick to it.

When the markets turn volatile like they did last week, it's crucial to stick to your strategy.

If not, you're likely to make some expensive mistakes.

With market volatility soaring this week, we sat our camera crew in front of The Oxford Club's Chief Investment Strategist Alexander Green to discuss the simplest ways to avoid these mistakes. He details each aspect of his core investing principles. It's the strategy that helped his Oxford Communiqué subscribers lock in gains of over 200% on a single play on Tuesday.

Click on the short, five-minute video below for Alex's comments on the strategy and how it will keep your wealth safe even as the market threatens a full-blown correction.

As Alex shows, despite what we're all taught about investing in stocks, big losses are flat-out unacceptable. By following a few simple principles, they can easily be avoided... no matter how much blood is on the streets.

Good investing,

Andrew Snyder
Editorial Director, The Oxford Club

P.S. If you're looking for a bit of humor this week, check out Steve McDonald's latest episode of his popular Slap in the Face Award video segment. This week he tackles a subject we've all endured... job interviews. Watch it here.

This Week's Best-sellers:

"This could change the future of computers and other devices forever"
MIT experts now predict five billion people will use tablets or comparable devices within a decade. And a new technology breakthrough stands to make all of these gadgets faster, lighter, and cheaper than imaginable. The BBC reports this innovation "could change the future of computers and other devices forever." Most shocking is that one small company holds the key patents on this discovery. Its earnings could soon mushroom from millions, to billions. And of course, its underpriced $9 shares would explode too. Full details here.

A WWII Story That Could Make Investors Very Rich...
During WWII, Germany hid a "miracle of chemistry" that fueled 60% of its wartime economy. Those secrets have finally been harnessed by a little-known company, giving it the ability to produce gasoline for $1.71 a gallon

One Easy Step... And Watch Your Retirement Income Skyrocket
Are you settling for 8% (or lower) annual returns because, quite rightly, you need safety more than anything else right now? Well, pardon my bluntness, but STOP IT! There's a better way. Widespread Panic

What a week in the market. The S&P 500 is now down some 1,300 points since its most recent high on September 19.

There's no use sugarcoating it. It's getting a little scary out there.

"We are in the midst of a full-fledged correction," Alex said. "And perhaps something even more dramatic." On Thursday, he explained exactly what's wrong with the stock market, and suggested what you should do about it.

On the other hand, the bull market may have one or two more charges left in it before the bears finally take control. In fact, Chris argued compellingly that those who sell indiscriminately now will likely regret it. And when you see his evidence, I think you'll agree.

Either way, Sean and Marc each offered some excellent ways to profit right now - not despite the sell-off but because of it. "[W]e can actually make more today than we could have a few weeks ago on the same trades," Marc said. And Sean has an excellent idea for finding dirt-cheap soon-to-be winners in the beat-up energy sector.

However you make money these days, you'll want to keep as much of it as possible. Alex explained the five steps you need to take right now to keep Uncle Sam out of your wallet at tax time.

And as crazy as Wall Street was last week, what has the public really scared at the moment is the Ebola virus. Of course, widespread panic always has market implications. Companies working on a cure are surging, while those deemed vulnerable to the illness are sinking.
