Kelli Valade, the COO of Chili's, recently took time out of her schedule to answer some questions about why she brought Rachel to her event and her overall impression of Rachel's talk. Here's what she had to say: What is your view of employee well-being? We've always believed in creating the best experience for our employees. By doing that, we know they will in turn create the best experience for our customers. We want this company to be personable. We've always asked, "What does the best job here look like for you?" But we started asking, "What does the best possible life look like?" Why did you invest in your managers to this degree? We want them to have better lives for us having been here. We want to make that difference. We want to help them not to have to worry. That's why we wanted to put on this conference. It's a starting point. Your brand is only as strong as your leaders. This is a tough industry. You only stay in it if it's in your blood. What feedback did you get from the attendees? For our general managers to sit in a room and think about the world they're forming for their kids was special. Storytelling is powerful and Rachel is a gifted storyteller. The principles are pretty simple, and it's what people needed to hear. She hit the mark. It had quite an impact. They all loved her and Twitter really blew up! I was blown away by Rachel.
