An Important Message From Coragem

Dear readers: This email is written by Coragem, one of our incredible volunteers in Brazil. There are thousands of volunteers like him around the world who give their time to support Mozilla's mission to build and protect the Web. Supporters like you make this work possible. We hope you will read his story, and consider making a year-end gift to Mozilla today. Thank you.

Hello,

Donate to help us build the internet the world needs

My name is Carlos, but my friends call me 'Coragem'. I want to tell you a little about what it is like to volunteer for Mozilla in my community in Brazil.

I started contributing to Mozilla by carrying crates and filling up balloons, I wanted to help somehow -- and they needed someone to do that. The community showed a strong bond between its members, being almost like a family.

We all came together around the belief that digital literacy is something crucial for people around the world nowadays, and in Brazil this statement holds true. As a volunteer, I've taught a little about the Web to kids and teenagers that live in underprivileged regions where access to knowledge is limited. When you make a donation to Mozilla's year-end fundraiser, you help volunteers like me all around the world empower more and more people to have a voice in the Web--click here to donate now.

Learning about the Web helped me to understand it properly, and I've pushed myself harder to make sure that what I was teaching and sharing was true and actually worked. I believe that the work I am doing is meaningful for the communities here where I live, including Santos, Guarujá and Campinas.

I'm extremely excited to keep helping our community grow stronger, to help organize events and workshops, and find more people to create an even better Web.

Mozilla's year-end fundraising campaign is just days away from ending. Your donations help support us as we expand the work we are doing around the world and here in Brazil. The aim for 2015 is to double what we have, to reach more schools from other cities and train new mentors. This will take a lot of work, but we believe that having a voice in the Web is something vital for Brazilians in the 21st century.

I decided to join Mozilla because I realized that its job of defending a free and open Web is important for having a healthy Web. I know you also believe this is true, and I am so grateful for you and Mozilla's supporters all over the world for helping us teach more people in Brazil about the Web and how to protect it.

I want to thank you for all that you do to support Mozilla!

Carlos 'Coragem' Valim
Mozilla Volunteer, Brazil

P.S. It isn't too late to give, but the fundraising campaign ends on December 31st, so don't wait and make your online donation right now.
