Click here   Harvesting Losses   This is good and means you made more money than you lost this year.  Evaluate your nonretirement taxable accounts if you have capital gains then you might be able to lower your taxes liable by tax loss harvesting.  It is a simple method of selling losing investments and using these losses to offset capital gains.  Beware that you may not buy back into the losing investments you sell for 30 days because the write off will be nullified by the wash-sale rule.  Talk to your advisor for more detail about how tax loss harvesting works.   No Health Insurance, New Penalty   Think having no health insurance is bad?  The IRS would like to celebrate this decision by giving you a penalty.  There are some exceptions but the Affordable Care Act requires individual to have qualifying health coverage in 2014.  Dubbed an “individual responsibility payment” the penalty could be up to 1% of household income.   Maximize Retirement Plan Contributions   Want to save more on a pre-tax basis?
