adding color to your leads

You hear chromatics all over music...From walking basslines used in say, a beatles song, to a turnaround of a 12 bar blues.

adding color to your leads

You hear chromatics all over music...From walking basslines used in say, a beatles song, to a turnaround of a 12 bar blues.

But did you know that you can also work chromatics into your lead guitar playing?

Yep.

That's what today's mini lesson is about.  Actually I have 5 short videos for you.

There's a million patterns, but i'll give you 4 of the most useful plus one bonus lesson.

Let me know whatcha think.  It's a good way to add a little spice to your lines.

LESSON OF THE DAY

You might know this already, but the term chromatic derives from the Greek word "chroma",  meaning color.

(That's because adding in all 12 notes can make your playing a bit more "colorful" if you get the drift.)

I like the idea of adding color because pitches literally are colors to the ear.  Just as an "A" or an "F#" has a certain numerical vibration measured in Hz, so too is red or green a certain vibrational frequency of light.

P.S.  A great guitar course you might consider is Jon Maclennan's "Play from the Heart".
