Answer this call

Help the USO connect our troops with their loved ones this year.
USO

USO Supporter,

It costs $120 to make a call home from Africa. That’s a financial burden many military families simply cannot bear.

But thanks to supporters like you, our troops don’t have to.

Last year alone, the USO provided more than 13 million of minutes talk time through its satellite telephone network in Afghanistan and Kuwait to enable American heroes to call home to their families and loved ones who give them the strength they need to face enlisted life far from home.

Connecting troops across the world with their loved ones back home is one of the most critical services we deliver. And right now, you can help the USO fulfill this commitment to our troops by giving to our new campaign: USO Connects. Our goal is to raise $35,000 by midnight Thursday to help continue providing troops this lifeline home in 2015.

Your gift will help pay for prepaid phone cards, access to satellite telephone networks for our troops in Afghanistan and Kuwait and free internet at our USO Centers around the world.

DEADLINE: MIDNIGHT THURSDAY -- GOAL: $35,000 -- Donate to Help Our Troops Call Home Make a Donation to the USO Today

My family knows firsthand how important, how vital, connecting with your loved one serving is during deployments.

My grandfather, a Marine battalion surgeon who served proudly on Iwo Jima, left for the Pacific when my mother was just six months old. My father, a Naval officer, deployed for Vietnam the night I was born. Connection back then was a letter or a rare photo.

Today, the USO provides phone cards, internet connection and teleconference connections at over 185 locations around the world, so that connection means actually hearing daddy's voice.

My nephew Andrew, who just finished his second tour in Afghanistan with the Air Force, was able to talk with his wife and two-year-old daughter from various locations during his tour.

And while a phone call home can’t make up for missing birthdays and holidays or being by the bedside of a sick relative, the chance to say “goodnight” to a child, “I love you” to a spouse and “I miss you” to a parent gives our troops the emotional strength they need.

But right now, we need you to step up and help fund USO Connects to ensure we have the resources to sustain these critical programs for our troops and their families for another year.

Please, give as much as you can today, before midnight Thursday.

Click here to make a gift of $10 or more to support our troops and their families through USO Connects now.

Thank you for helping the USO support families like mine,

Marguerite Kirst
