| Dear Indiana, We are on the verge of a historic victory on Net Neutrality: Yesterday Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler proposed Net Neutrality rules that would reclassify broadband under Title II, the only real protection against a full-scale corporate takeover of the Internet.1 But the fight isn't over. The FCC doesn't vote on the rules until February 26, and until then, the commissioners will almost assuredly face a massive onslaught of lobbying by telecom giants like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast, who will do everything in their power to weaken the rules. Plus, Republicans in Congress will make even louder threats to strip the FCC of its authority – or defund it. Tell the FCC: No loopholes! Pass strong Net Neutrality rules. But every indication is that the FCC is about to hand open Internet advocates like you and I a near-total win – one that seemed all but impossible a year ago. There's no guarantee that the FCC won't cave under pressure and insert dangerous loopholes before the final vote. It's time for grassroots activists to go all out. We need to let the commissioners know that, if they vote to pass strong Net Neutrality rules, we will fight tooth and nail to defend the rules – and that if the FCC caves to industry pressure, we'll hold the commissioners accountable. Big Telecom's lobbyists pulled out all of the stops fighting for regulations that would allow telecom companies to divide the Internet into slow lanes and fast lanes. It's no surprise that many Washington insiders believed that reclassification under Title II was impossible. We are close to proving them wrong. After Verizon persuaded a federal judge to throw out the FCC's previous so-called Net Neutrality proposal, millions of activists across the country organized to convince President Obama – who previously had supported weak Net Neutrality rules – and then Chairman Wheeler that Title II was the only way to protect the open Internet. CREDO members played a vitally important role in this fight. Over 310,000 CREDO members urged Chairman Wheeler to protect Net Neutrality. Over 210,000 of us asked President Obama to support Title II – and he did! We've made well over 10,000 calls to the FCC, Congress and President Obama calling for strong rules that will protect the open Internet. And CREDO has helped fund the movement for Net Neutrality by giving nearly $300,000 since 2012 to incredible groups like Demand Progress, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Color of Change, and Free Press. Once the FCC votes to reclassify broadband under Title II, the telecom industry and its Republican allies in Congress will try to roll back the progress we've made. It's a fight that could go on for years – and we have to let the FCC commissioners know that, if they do the right thing and vote to adopt strong Net Neutrality rules, we'll see the fight through to the end by defending them from Congress.
