There's a concept in science and engineering known as the "signal-to-noise ratio", a ratio which measures the strength of desired signals to the amount of background interference involved. It's used in other ways as well, of course, particularly in a communications setting, to determine how much content there is and how much fluff there is in a given article or discussion thread. Too much noise, essentially, can interfere with a signal to such a degree that the signal is largely lost. Meanwhile, Plantronics and Revolabs are getting together to make it easier to boost the signal and cut out the noise with a new line of products specifically geared toward getting a signal across better.
There was a time when sophisticated PBX and phone systems were a luxury enjoyed only by the large enterprise that could afford it, but as hosted and IP-based technologies have advanced communications in the business world, companies have increasingly been able to develop cost-effective and scalable versions to support every size office and operation.
We have reached the point where unified communications are so widely adopted, the appeal is perhaps no longer in VoIP services alone, but in the myriad additional features these services can provide. Unified Office, for one, has a great many features built into its technology, but interestingly it's not the technology that's making the difference-it's the economics that customers really appear to be responding to.

A recent development in the field suggests that ThinkingPhones is about to have some new tools coming its way soon, and tools that should dovetail nicely into current offerings. The reports, direct from ThinkingPhones itself, say that the company acquired Contactive, an Android-based call management app which helps speed up the process of using Google to search for people's names and phone numbers. While the exact amount ThinkingPhones spent wasn't made clear, what's a bit clearer is just what ThinkingPhones could do with this new capability.

For Zultys, meanwhile, it's having one of those periods itself, as it recently won a slate of awards from several magazines for its lineup of cloud services.
Arkadin, a France-based provider of integrated audio, video, web and Unified Communications (UC) solutions and a subsidiary of NTT Communications, recently announced its acquisition of T-Uno, a Colombia-based company specializing in remote collaboration solutions including technologies such as audio, Web and video conferencing and webcasting. Arkadin delivers business solutions from its global network of offices spanning 34 countries, whereas T-Uno primarily operates in the governmental and educational markets throughout Latin America.
Teliax was at ITEXPO Miami last week talking about its turnkey white-label voice solution, which allows integrators and resellers to get to market quickly, painlessly, and with no upfront investment or recurring costs.
