What a history!
We knew the USO community had amazing stories to share with us, and we thank all of you who took the time to tell us your story.
We received one from a mother whose son served for nearly a decade before being tragically killed in action on his last tour in Iraq. She wrote to us about the great comfort he felt whenever he visited a local USO Center. Even now, it means a great deal for her to envision the times her son was surrounded by friendly faces and enjoying a home-cooked meal – and to know that the USO was there for her son all those years she couldn’t be.
Inspiring stories like this help show the American people just how much their continued support means to our troops, their families and caregivers. And there’s still time for you to share yours!

As we look forward to celebrating the USO’s 75th anniversary next year, we know that no one can tell our history better than the men, women and families whom this organization has touched.
Your stories celebrate the USO’s past, but they also inspire our present and future. And with more than 1 million active-duty troops serving our nation and more than 50,000 wounded troops recovering here at home, the USO’s support is as important now as it’s ever been.
