| Good morning Andrew,
Silver and gold gained modest ground in overnight trading after the release of the minutes from the last Fed meeting showed the members willing to be more patient before seeking higher interest rates.....That's undoubtedly because a growing number of foreign Central banks are cutting rates and increasing their own quantitative easing commitments....
In late morning European trading we find Silver up 13 cents to $16.70 per ounce.....Gold is up $8.00 at $1219.00....Notice how Gold managed to hold the psychological $1200.00 level after several attempts to force it lower...Remember we have no Chinese buying, at least not officially.....Palladium eased by $2.00 to $781.00.....Platinum is up $5.00 to $1182.00...
On the energy front; Wow!!....Crude lost $2.07 per barrel after yesterday's API oil Inventories showed an amazing 14.3 million barrel surge in available supplies....Today we will get the more widely followed EIA Inventory report....If it confirms the API's, we could get a follow up sell off into the upper $40's......Last on Oil $50.07........
Meanwhile; Currencies seem quiet.....We find tha surprising after Greece finally asked for the long anticipated debt payment extension...It was quickly granted, as the debt negotiations continue....
As for stocks; Asia closed fractionally higher with gains of 0.1% to 0.5%......Europe is currently flat to up 0.5%.....In New York the Dow looks to open 13 Dow point lower after Wednesday's decline of 19......
We have some U.S. data to contend with......The Philadelphia Fed Index of Manufacturing is estimated to be 8.5 versus 6.3, a good improvement.....Leading Economic Indicators for January are expected to show a rise of 0.3% versus December's 0.5%, not good......Last but not least will be the 10:30 AM release of the EIA Oil Inventories....We have not estimates at this time.....
We continue to keep a close eye on the Middle East, and on the Russian / Ukrainian conflict....The geo-political climate remains stormy....That's it......
Stay warm.........................................
