Last week, Sonus announced a new strategy: the Sonus WebRTC Service Solution to enable WebRTC sessions is to be integrated into existing SIP and IMS based environments and the PSTN.
As Jon Jorgl, GENBAND's president of enterprise, discusses in the upcoming April issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine, a TMC publication, companies want to be able to move forward with new and improved communications capabilities, but at the same time, not every organization wants replace its existing systems. We haven now been introduced to another GENBAND contribution to the world of WebRTC. On March 16, the company announced its Real-Time Communication (RTC) Client for Lync. This is seen as an innovative web-centric solution that enables a cost-effective combination of enterprise or service provider-based voice, video and collaboration with Lync.
There have never been so many tools out there to get a job done as there are right now, it seems. Tools for mobile workers, tools for stationary office workers, tools for collaborative workers...the lineup of tools never seems to slow. But Telstra's Tom Homer recently took the stage at Cloud Expo Europe in London to offer up some grim advice: give the employees what's desired in terms of tools, or the employees will take matters into hand, with potentially less-than-desirable results.
