| Shell says "We're not aligning with skeptics." Shell says "We're not aligning with skeptics." Tell Shell that actions speak louder than words: Stop funding the American Legislative Exchange Council's attacks on climate science. | ACTION ALERT Tell Shell: Stop Shelling Out for Climate Disinformation Dear UCS supporter, Shell is feeling the heat for its funding of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a group that spreads disinformation about climate science. More than 100,000 people like you have now called on Shell to dispel ALEC's climate disinformation—and we're just getting started. Just last month, Shell's CEO spoke about the need for the fossil fuel industry to participate in discussions about the future of energy, saying "I'm well aware that the industry's credibility is an issue." Our new infographic, Climate Science vs. Fossil Fuel Fiction, illustrates exactly why the fossil fuel industry lacks credibility on climate issues. Oil, gas, and coal interests have been deceiving the public for nearly 30 years. Shell's funding of ALEC is a case in point. Politicians gathered at ALEC's latest meeting heard from several speakers who denied that carbon dioxide is a primary cause of global warming, said atmospheric carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, and even claimed that benefits of carbon dioxide greatly outweigh the costs. Shell admits to funding ALEC, yet has the audacity to claim "We're not aligning with skeptics." Tell Shell the jig is up: Stop funding ALEC's attacks on climate science. Sincerely,
David Anderson Outreach Coordinator Climate & Energy Program Union of Concerned Scientists
