Riots broke out in Baltimore on Monday following the funeral of Freddie Gray, with people looting shops, fighting each other and setting fires across the city in what CNN is describing as a “war zone.” But not everyone is causing trouble. Amid all the chaos, a Michael Jackson impersonator named Dimitri Reeves has been spotted dancing in the streets as part of a peaceful protest. There are a number of different videos being passed around on social media of the guy blasting music and showing off his moves on top of a truck. NBC reporter Shomari Stone posted the “Beat It” clip above on Twitter, and you can check out more of him below. He’s also been retweeting shout outs from people thanking him for using his music to encourage peace and bring some joy to an otherwise dismal day. On the one hand, I give her a lot of credit for her passion and determination in destroying a car, but her form is all wrong. I mean, where are all the axe kicks? > All rage, no discipline. That's no way to rack up the sweet bonus points, lady. A mother in Baltimore has won over the Internet by scolding and smacking her son on camera for taking part in the violence that escalated throughout the city on Monday. “Get over here now!” she screams repeatedly after slapping the teen in the head a few times. The boy was throwing rocks at police, which initially sparked her outrage according to WMAR newswho first captured the moment on video. A large portion of the afternoon rioters were students that started causing trouble after school got out for the day. And Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts mentioned her in his press conference Monday using her as an example of what more parents should be doing to take control of the situation. “If you saw in one scene, you had one a mother who grabbed their child who had a hood on his head and she started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed. I wish I had more parents who took charge of their kids tonight,” he said. Many on Twitter are calling her “mom of the year.” You could describe this as one epic fail. Irwin Horwitz couldn’t deal with the rude, incompetent students in his Strategic Management class anymore, so he gave them all an “F” and got the F out of there. “I finally reached a breaking point,” the Texas A&M professor told KPRC News. “It became apparent that they couldn’t do some of the most simple and basic things they should have been able to do.” He sent a nasty email to all of the students, informing them of his decision and calling them out for cheating, making fun of him and just having a general disrespect for the class. He claims one of them even called him a “f-cking moron” to his face. Part of the message via Inside Higher Ed: None of you, in my opinion, given the behavior in this class, deserve to pass, or graduate to become an Aggie, as you do not in any way embody the honor that the university holds graduates should have within their personal character. It is thus for these reasons why I am officially walking away from this course. I am frankly and completely disgusted. You all lack the honor and maturity to live up to the standards that Texas A&M holds, and the competence and/or desire to do the quality work necessary to pass the course just on a grade level…. I will no longer be teaching the course, and all are being awarded a failing grade. While many of the allegations are being investigated, the school said that their grades will be re-evaluated. “No student who passes the class academically will be failed. That is the only right thing to do,” a spokesperson told Inside Higher Ed. That's Chris Hala'ufia of the London Welsh rugby team, taking down a streaker who was looking to have a little fun at a recent game. Here's a brief video of the tackle itself (safe for work):
We should really petition the Rock Band guys to get the xylophone version of this song into the next game. Who's with me? Submitted by: (via Metro) |
