For photos and more info go to our Facebook invitation: https://www.facebook.com/events/310800699090476/

I could also use a few more volunteers to register guests, pour wine, set up and clean up. Clean up crew takes home any leftover wine. It's also a great way to meet everyone at the event. If you can get there at 6pm and would like one of these opportunities, contact me ASAP at

Metropolis Wine Club - California Wines on Juniata
September 22, 2015, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Private Residence, 4012 Juniata Street, 63116

Sample California Wines at a unique private modern residence in the Tower Grove South neighborhood with a lovely landscaped back yard. Each guest brings a bottle of California wine or a plate of appetizers to share.

New Info: The architect of this house, Adrian Luchini, will be in attendance. He is a world renowned award winning architect, who has also been a professor in the School of Architecture at Washington University for 30 years.

Completed in 2005, this home, with its very modern exterior sticks out in this neighborhood of mostly century old brick and wooden houses. This house was on the market for 3 years starting in 2011, as one that people either loved or hated; one realtor at the time said it would probably only appeal to someone from the east or west coast. That's what happened. Todd Bohrer, who had lived in San Diego for 18 years and was thinking of moving back to St. Louis saw the listing and immediately purchased it in 2013, moving in August 2014, and since making a number of improvements

The original owner commissioned world renowned architect, and a Washington University professor, Adrian Luchini to build a modern affordable house for him in 2004 on a vacant lot in this historic neighborhood. The result is a two story 1300 square foot giant vinyl silver square with a large elephant ear window protruding from the front and irregularly spaced small windows dotting the side. The inside has a loft-like feel with an open floor plan, concrete floors, custom cabinetry, and built in shelving. The one bedroom on the second floor features a deep soaking tub. It has a very California feel to it.

Todd has since added a larger side window and a sun room in the back. The interior is furnished with mid-century modern furnishings and original art. He has landscaped the back yard to include a garden, koi pond and two shipping containers, one which is furnished as a cozy outdoor living room. There is also a retro 1961 16-foot turquoise and white Shasta Airflight trailer, which can be utilized as a guest room and also taken on camping trips.

Each guest brings a bottle of California wine or a plate of appetizers to share.

RSVP to www.mstl.org by 5pm on September 21.
