| Small town tourism — city folks love small towns Posted: 15 Sep 2015 03:48 AM PDT  Washingtonian Magazine cover Great Small Towns I was excited to see Washingtonian magazine did a August cover story on Great Small Towns. “Two dozen places that will charm you with old-fashioned hospitality and newfangled vigor,” the website summary says. “Visit for a day, a weekend—or for good.” The spread covered 25 different small towns in the greater Washington, D.C., driving area. Features were a good mix of things to do, good foods to try, and small town scenery. I was especially impressed with the focus on the interesting people in small towns. Every town has interesting people to show off, ones we normally take for granted or dismiss as average or uninteresting. They also featured stories of people who chose to move to small towns and the factors that influenced them. Availability of broadband was a big factor, along with quality of life issues we most commonly think of. Keep your eyes open for other stories featuring small town tourism and share them with us.
