Lewis -- "Free stuff." That's how the Republican Party talks about programs like Medicare and Social Security, health insurance subsidies and student loan forgiveness -- programs that level the too-skewed playing field of opportunity and give every American the chance to achieve his or her dreams. Now, these candidates not only believe in this nonsense for themselves, but they also know it appeals to the farthest-right extremes of their base -- and they think it will win them votes. It's patronizing, to say the least, and yet another example of just how clueless Republicans are when it comes to what really matters for the majority of hardworking Americans and their families. Those families are why I'm asking you to sign on to say you stand with Democrats. As Democrats, we know that these programs are about making sure that American families have a fair shot at success -- as the Vice President put it yesterday, they're about "affording every single person dignity." They're about the parent who doesn't know where their child's next meal will come from, or the young person who graduates from college and enters the workforce under the crushing burden of student loan debt, or the child who struggles to help pay off a parent's medical bills. That's who Democrats are fighting for every single day -- and they're why we're working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2016. Will you be a part of that work, Lewis? http://my.democrats.org/Elect-Democrats The outcome of this next election will have a serious effect on millions of Americans' lives. Each of us doing a little bit can add up to making a big difference in 2016. So, thanks for doing your part.
