Davos Is A Boys' Club

If you're attending the World Economic Forum, which officially kicks off in Switzerland Wednesday, you're probably a man. Last quarter, weak revenues significantly affected Goldman’s results, resulting in a negative earnings surprise of 5.8 percent. Analysts will be keenly watching to see if the bank can beat the tough industry backdrop.

The body warned the rise could make existing jobs vulnerable and fuel social unrest.

Morgan Stanley Moving Jobs To Cheaper Cities

The bank’s plan to shift jobs to lower-cost cities comes as part of an effort to slash more than $1 billion in annual costs by the end of 2017. Some of the bank’s rivals have been eyeing similar moves, with mooted expansions into Poland, to take advantage of the country's relatively inexpensive and skilled labor force.

Japan's Nikkei Enters Bear Market

The index closed down 3.7 percent in early trading, and has fallen 21 percent from its recent closing high in June last year. Markets across Asia registered losses Wednesday, and the IMF cut its forecast for global growth for a third time in less than a year.
