While few investors saw it as a surprise, the massive dividend cut by Transocean (NYSE: RIG) set the tone for the year.   First, it cut the payout... then it halted it entirely.   Investors went from getting $3 per share... to nothing.   Worse still, a quick look at a chart shows shareholders paid dearly for the cut.
