| Ghost Quartet April 7-9 Life in Deep Ellum A haunted song cycle about love, life, & whiskey from the mind of Dave Malloy (Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812). Beyond the grave, there are still stories to be told and songs to be sung, not to mention booze to be had. Ghost Quartet will absorb you in an otherworldly take on theatre, from the brilliant mind of composer, writer, performer, director and all-around theatre legend Dave Malloy. The environment of Ghost Quartet harkens back to campfire ghost stories and Edgar Allen Poe-inspired suspense, made beautiful through artful cello performances and indie-folk sing-alongs that occur in the audience, who become part of the lore. By evening’s end, you’ll feel entranced by the beauty and the daring of this once-in-a-generation theatre experience. Staged in the round with the musicians seated among the audience, Ghost Quartet is a unique theatrical presentation of a concept album. It contains four interwoven narratives spanning seven centuries, and blurs the line between theatre and concert. |
