Mayo Clinic social media chief Lee Aase live-streamed his colonoscopy on Periscope to raise awareness, a reminder that social outreach is more than firing off tweets, he says. "A Twitter chat is not as rich of an experience as what you get with Periscope and live video," he said.

Snapchat holds untapped marketing potential, experts say
Snapchat is one of the most promising social networks for marketers because of its rapid growth in users, the reach it has with millennials and Generation Z and the instantaneous nature of users' interactions on the platform, experts say. "This is really where Snapchat is key right now: It's a network that is both public and private and the entire experience is handled in a mobile environment," said Tim Howell of R2Integrated.
