Team -- Mitch McConnell put on a show today. He let the Senate hold a meaningless vote on a compromise measure to stop suspected terrorists from legally buying guns. American families don’t need political theater or votes just for show -- they need real action. If you’re considered too dangerous to fly on a plane, you shouldn’t be able to buy a gun. In the House, when Republicans refused to act, Democrats staged an unprecedented sit-in on the House floor to protest. I joined my fellow Wisconsinites at that sit-in to show my support. But Speaker Ryan decided that recessing for the Fourth of July vacation was a better idea than stopping suspected terrorists from buying guns. Republicans claim to be serious about stopping terrorism. But that cannot be true if they refuse to prevent weapons of mass murder from getting into the hands of those with ties to terrorism. Help me hold Republicans accountable. We cannot let them get away with this inaction any longer.
