Garter stitch was the first stitch I ever learned, but I didn't know the name of it. My mom taught me how to cast on, hold the needles, and knit the knit stitch, and I ended up with a seven foot-long garter stitch scarf. Did you start off on garter stitch, too?
When I started learning more complicated stitches, I began to get sick of garter stitch. Some garter stitch patterns are really beautiful, though, so I fell back in love. Check them out!
