One of the greatest rock albums ever in my opinion is Guns n Roses 'Apetite for Destruction'. Like nothing before (or since) it featured a potent blend of undeniable songwriting hooks, smoking guitar riffs and solos, and the perfect level of 'heaviness'.

Maybe the most famous guitar riff on there is from Sweet Child O Mine.  Funny thing is when they showed that melody to Slash, he said it he initially thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Haha...
