But an anonymous somebody in the U.S. Bureau of Engraving decided to make some changes to Trumbull’s work, and that’s when things got a little strange. THE FINE PRINT _______________________________

| Pictures Of Kids Taken On Their First And Last Day Of School Posted: 04 Sep 2016 01:59 AM PDT Parents always remember their kid's first day of school and the graduation ceremony on the last, but they rarely have the foresight to recreate the first day photo some thirteen years later on their last day of school. If the kindergartener was being held by their mom or dad in the first day photo it will naturally be much harder to replicate, but this strong dad powered through the last day photo shoot for the sake of posterity. Bored Panda asked people to submit their first versus last day of school pics in honor of kids going back to school, and most of the submissions they received were surprisingly creative. Some used Photoshop skills to create a time travel paradox so they could stand next to their first day of school selves. While others relied on more traditional methods to create the perfect first vs last day pic. Something tells me people are going to start doing this a whole lot more now, and I'm definitely stealing this idea when my kid starts school! This mural at 1583 Bardstown Road in Louisville, Kentucky, features four world-famous Kentuckians. Muhammad Ali, on the left, was born, died, and lived most of his life in Louisville. Abraham Lincoln was born in Hancock County, Kentucky, although Illinois claims him because he represented their 7th district in Congress. Colonel Harland Sanders was born in Indiana, but put Kentucky on the map with the fried chicken recipe he developed. Secretariat, at the far right, was foaled in Virginia, but the 1973 Triple Crown winner lived most of his life at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky. The mural was painted by artist Margaret Morely in 2013. | ||||||||

| The Power of Lightning is Terrifying Posted: 03 Sep 2016 05:59 PM PDT Most of us take lightning for granted, thinking that as long as we aren't under a tree, out swimming or swinging a golf club, we'll be ok. But it's easy to forget how dangerous it can be. A recent tragedy in Norway reminds us just how deadly it can be. In fact, one single strike of lightning killed a whopping 323 reindeer died all at once when a lightning strike hit the herd that was huddled together -presumably thinking that would keep them safe. | ||||||||

| Playful Goats Climb All Over Very Patient Rhinos Posted: 03 Sep 2016 01:59 PM PDT Most humans won't let another human climb all over them unless the climber is a child or potential mate, but rhinos are apparently far more patient and tolerant than humans. Rhinos are so tolerant they'll even let a bunch of rambunctious little goats jump and climb all over them, sometimes two or three goats at a time. This funny footage shot at South Africa's Care for Wild Africa Rhino Sanctuary left me with one question- do rhinos see goats as the massage therapists of the animal kingdom? -Via Mashable | ||||||||
| Lilo And Stitch Was Originally Going To Be A Much More Violent Movie Posted: 03 Sep 2016 12:00 PM PDT Lilo and Stitch didn't really cause any controversy with audiences, but it sure caused problems for the crew at Disney's Hollywood Studios during the making of the film. It seems Lilo and Stitch was originally going to be a much more violent film, with lots of sci-fi violence and a star who broke all the rules regarding good guys in animated features for kids. So the film underwent some radical changes thanks largely to test audiences who felt certain scenes in the film were too violent. The scene where Jumba the alien stops sneaking around and goes for a full frontal assault on Stitch, ultimately destroying Lilo's home, was the main scene in need of alteration. So they started toning down the scene by changing Jumba's laser gun blasting into household destruction via dishware. The production team didn't agree with the changes made to that scene, but there's one scene they all agreed to alter- the ending scene where Stitch hijacks a 747 to go after Captain Gantu. The film was in production during 9/11, and even though they'd finished animating the scene they knew it had to go, so the 747 was replaced with Jumba's spaceship and the fight moved from the city to the mountains. | Creepy Guy Staring At Taylor Swift Gets Photoshopped Straight Posted: 03 Sep 2016 05:59 AM PDT Say you're walking down the street one day and you spot a young lady named Taylor Swift walking ahead of you. Would you try to stop her and get an autograph, snicker and sneer, or start stalking her like prey? I figured you'd say one of the first two, but if you answered “stalk her like prey” then congratulations! You're just like the creepy stalker guy in the paparazzi shot above, and part of the reason Taylor always feels like she's being hunted. But maybe that shaggy guy was just shadowing Swift while doing some Scooby Doo style investigative work? Taylor has been receiving creepy, heavy breathing phone calls in the middle of the night, maybe he was just helping her track down the culprit? Of course! It was Kanye! K.West's love-hate thang with T.Swift is becoming really creepy, but not as creepy as this Scooby style unmasking moment- The stalker was actually the stalkee all along!
