Snapchat to charge flat fee for content, quit sharing ad profit

Snapchat has paid approximately $30 million to $40 million for Israeli startup Cimagine Media, which specializes in augmented reality. The 4-year-old company created True Marketless Augmented Reality -- mobile technology that enables consumers to get a virtual look at how appliances and furniture will look in their homes.

Facebook settles lawsuit over alleged message scanning
Facebook has settled a lawsuit with consumers who alleged that the company scanned their private messages and counted shared links as "likes" that were then included in publishers' metrics. Details of the settlement will be disclosed by February.
