| | Our Best Tips & Tricks, Dinner Made Easy Show Episodes & 31 Days Series from 2016 Holy guacamole, we’ve had a busy year on the blog. This year we have shared hundreds amazing new recipes (more on that tomorrow), hosted 3 Grocery Budget Makeover classes, released our new MyFreezEasy freezer meal program and launched a new live cooking show on Facebook! Put it all together and we will help you rock your grocery savings and budgets this next year. I wanted to bring together the best of the best in 2016 for you here. A bit of a summary and look back at the frugal fun! And of course, we will continue the grocery savings awesome-ness into 2017 Let’s get to our best tips and tricks from this past year… Time Saving & Money Saving Tips & Tricks 31 Days Series from 2016 See the recipes in all 17 installments of our 31 Day Series here! The Dinner Made Easy Show In early July, when the Facebook Live functionality was made available to us on our page, I shared a live cooking demo (because what could possibly go wrong! Yes, we’ve had some mishaps!) and asked if you’d want more of them. The resounding answer was YES…and since then we have shared a new live cooking demo on the page every Wednesday. In each weekly episode, I prepare a new recipe and share any fun tips or tricks related to the recipe. It’s been a huge hit and I plan to continue this weekly Dinner Made Easy Show into 2017! And I have a fun new surprise for 2017 that I will share on Sunday on the $5 Dinners Facebook page… See all the episodes in The Dinner Made Easy Show here. All in all, it’s been an amazing year and I look forward to sharing more new ideas, concepts and helping you save on groceries in the next year!
Free Knife Skills Class for Kids ~ Registration OPEN! FREE Knife Skills Class Registration is OPEN! Teaching your kids new skills can be a challenging part of this whole parenthood gig. Let’s take swimming for example. I didn't know the proper way to teach my boys how to swim, so the older 3 boys did swimming lessons intermittently between the ages 4 and 8. Over time, I learned the overall step by step and process and phases of learning to swim, and let them practice, practice, practice. Cuatro is now 3 1/2 and he's ready to swim. He’s actually quasi-swimming. On his own, at 3 1/2. He is a full year younger than when my older boys learned how to swim – because he's ready, because I know how to teach him myself (from what I learned watching the other lessons), and because we are always at the pool so he has plenty of time to practice. Same applies for teaching children how to use sharp knives in the kitchen. Once I learned the best method for teaching them, I’m more confident in understanding when they will be ready and how I will teach them. (No, Cuatro is not using a sharp knife, but I will be teaching my almost 7 year old very soon!) Katie’s class has been so helpful in giving me the confidence and know-how for helping my boys be successful with using sharp knives in the kitchen. The class is open for registration for one more day, so if you were thinking about it…now’s the time! (It just takes a second to sign up…and then you can go through the class at your convenience!)
