President-elect Donald Trump promised change when he took office. He promised to “drain the swamp” in Washington and make America work for everyone.
His actions tell a different story.
President-elect Trump just selected Steven Mnuchin to head the Department of the Treasury. Mnuchin is a hedge fund CEO and former employee of Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 17 years.
When Mnuchin is advising the president on economic policy, do you think he’ll be looking out for Wisconsin?
Do you think he’ll be looking out for teachers in Madison, or nurses in Green Bay, or factory workers in Manitowoc who are struggling to pay their bills? Or do you think he’ll look out for his old bosses on Wall Street, and make sure the rules continue to help line his own pockets?
The Republican establishment owns Washington now. Wall Street, big banks, hedge funds, and the wealthy are still writing the rules to rig the system in their favor. This isn’t what hardworking Wisconsinites voted for.
I will continue to make sure that their voices are heard and stand up to these powerful interests in Washington. Join me and tell Trump: We shouldn’t have a Wall Street insider running the Treasury Department. Say “no” to Steven Mnuchin.
