Congratulations to our newest Marines, 1st Battalion Charlie Company from Parris Island for graduating last Friday, January 27; and to 1st Battalion Bravo Company from San Diego who will graduate this Friday, February 3. We would also like to congratulate 2nd Battalion Echo Company from San Diego and 2nd Battalion Golf Company and 4th Battalion November Company from Parris Island, who will be graduating next Friday, February 10. When we start looking back through our family trees, most of us have family members here and there that have served in the military. For some families, it's a sibling, a parent or grandparent, or perhaps you were the one who served. Some families have a history of generations of military service while, for others, having a family member serve in the military may be a totally new experience.

| | The Training Matrix
The recruit training matrix shows what your recruit is doing each day of boot camp. The EGA Shop has FREE* matrices available, for both San Diego and Parris Island. They measure 11 inches wide by 17 inches tall when open and are professionally printed on a nice gloss finish. (*Matrix is free, just pay shipping and handling.)
| | | Mail and Packages During Boot Camp
Though your recruit may move from one location to another during boot camp, you will always use the same mailing address for him or her. The first letter you receive from your recruit will be a form letter. This letter should arrive in your mail box in approximately 10-14 days after they leave. The form letter should include your recruit's mailing address. If you do not get the form letter in 10-14 days of your recruit's departure, contact his or her recruiter. The recruiter should be able to provide you with your recruit's mailing address and platoon number. If you have to contact the recruiter, ask him or her to pull up your recruit on the Marine Online Locator (MOL). | | Travel Planning
Making your travel plans to San Diego or Parris Island is easy enough, but what about your soon-to-be Marine? Will he/she travel back home with you for 10-day leave? How do you know what time to arrange flights? If you didn't discuss this with your Recruit prior to leaving for boot camp, and most of us did not, and the letters you're getting from your Recruit aren't giving you the answers you need, where do you turn?
