The Big Story
Facebook is competing directly with TikTok by rolling out its short-form video Instagram Reels platform in more than 50 countries, including the US, in August after launching in Brazil, France, Germany and India. Instagram is highlighting Reels with an icon on its platform to direct individuals to the new platform, where they'll be able to upload content.

Twitter rebuilds API

Measurement Matters
Research from Horizon Media reveals consumer awareness of the #StopHateForProfit campaign urging brands to boycott Facebook has grown from 12% in late June to 20% last week and the percentage of Americans who support brands taking part in the initiative has increased from 18% to 40% over the same time frame. Just 4% say they would boycott participating brands, down from 6% in late June, and Horizon Media states, "The upside potential for brands of participating in #StopHateForProfit continues to be significant with much more consumer support for the campaign than opposition."
