The repair will restore this stretch of the canal to its full water delivery capacity, which had fallen from 4,000 cubic-feet-per-second to 1,600 cubic-feet-per-second. Without the canal, over one million acres of rich farmland would be put out of production, devastating families and farmers. Thanks to President Trump’s commitment to securing more water storage for the Valley, we can make good on years of studies to repair the Friant-Kern Canal and restore essential water supplies to our farms, small businesses, and communities.
