Steamed Asparagus with Ginger Sauce
Metric Ingredient Imperial
1 kg thin asparagus 2 lb
30 ml soy sauce 2 tbsp
30 ml sugar 2 tbsp
10 ml fresh ginger, grated 2 tsp
10 ml dark sesame oil 2 tsp
10 ml hot pepper sauce 2 tsp
30 ml vegetable oil 2 tbsp
5 ml sesame seeds, toasted 1 tsp

Steam asparagus until just tender and bright green, about 2 to 3 minutes.  Drain immediately and place in 13 x 9 inch (33 x 23 cm) baking dish. 

In a small bowl; place soy sauce and sugar.  Whisk until sugar dissolves.  Stir in ginger, sesame oil and hot sauce.  Whisk in vegetable oil until vinaigrette thickens slightly.  Pour vinaigrette over asparagus and toss gently to combine.  Transfer to serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
