| | Dear Customer,
The year 2020 has been challenging for nearly everyone. COVID-19 has changed life as we know it, leading to unprecedented levels of stress and turmoil around the world. At the same time, this year has proven how incredibly innovative, brave, and compassionate people can be. From frontline workers to generous volunteers, there are courageous individuals everywhere you look.
Still, most of us are more than ready to put 2020 in our rear view mirrors. That's why, in this month's newsletter, we're looking ahead and celebrating the good that's in store. First off, we're giving you a rundown of the top new cars of 2021. There's a lot of exciting new sheet metal hitting showrooms—from the all-electric Mustang Mach-E to the revised Chevy Suburban—that you'll want to check out.
As you're reading this, Old Man Winter is descending upon most of the country, creating dangerously frigid conditions for both you and your vehicle. To help you avoid injury and mishaps, in our Advice From the Field section, we cover the 10 biggest mistakes that you can make with your car during the winter.
We've also got our monthly Auto Shop Pop Quiz, as well as an exciting opportunity to have your questions answered by NASCAR Cup Series driver Michael McDowell. He and the No. 34 CarParts.com Ford Mustang team just recently had a two-part virtual career day event with the students at Naperville North High, which we're thrilled to share in this issue. Plus, we've included an exclusive 8% discount so you can save on parts for your weekend warrior or daily driver. Having the car you love running right and looking its best is a great way to bring in the new year.

| | | The new year is right around the corner—and that means many 2021 model vehicles are either already in showrooms or will be soon. In anticipation, we asked our followers whether they had recently purchased a car or were planning on doing so soon.

| | | Q&A with the Automotive Students at Naperville North High School | | On December 7th and 14th, we partnered with Naperville North Auto Tech and Front Row Motorsports to hold a two-part virtual career day event called Motorsport Mondays. Students were able to speak with a panel of motorsports industry experts—including Michael McDowell and No. 34 crew chief Drew Blickensderfer. Many thanks to everyone involved for making both sessions a success! Watch Highlights |

| | | | Correct Answer: C | Both technicians are correct. A restricted catalytic converter can create enough exhaust backpressure to prevent the engine from starting. In many instances, a catalytic converter will fail prematurely due to an engine performance problem, such as a misfire, that allows unburnt fuel to enter the converter, causing the device to overheat.
