Ksenija Sidorova, The Middle East in 2021 & Martin Carthy

Watch these videos just added to the Library of Congress website.

Ksenija Sidorova
Accordionist Ksenija Sidorova dazzles with "breathtaking virtuosity" (The Observer, London) in this not-to-be-missed recital. A global ambassador for the instrument and its place in classical music, she delights audiences in the world's major concert halls, performs with orchestras like the Tonhalle Orchester-Zurich and the NHK Symphony, and partners with exciting artists from Avi Avital to Sting. Highlights in this wide-ranging hour are three scintillating tangos from her new Piazzolla recording, an homage to the composer's centenary, which earned the coveted Editor's Choice award from Gramophone magazine.

The Middle East in 2021
Watch a panel discussion of current events in the Middle East led by moderator and Kluge Center Scholars Council Member Lisa Anderson and featuring Tamara Wittes, Rabab El Mahdi, and Mehran Kamrava. This event will discuss the complex interconnection between U.S. foreign policy and ongoing diplomacy and conflict in the region.

Homegrown: Jody Stecher & Kate Brislin
Kate Brislin and Jody Stecher have been musical partners for close to 50 years. Their duet vocal sound is at once soaring and soothing. Combining it with their deft playing results in a fully unified sound in which voices and instruments blend into an inseparable and singular musical entity.

LC Chorale Presents 'The Greatest Showman'
The Library of Congress Chorale performs songs from "The Greatest Showman," the musical drama film inspired by the story of P.T. Barnum's creation of Barnum's American Museum and the lives of its star attractions. Songs include "A Million Dreams," "Come Alive," "Never Enough," "Rewrite the Stars," "From Now On" and "This Is Me."

Homegrown: Martin Carthy
Martin Carthy has been a leading figure in the revival of English folk music since the 1960s, and is one of the most influential solo artists in folk music, with a guitar style emulated by practically all English folk guitarists since the 1970s. His versions of many traditional folksongs have become standards in the revival.
