Monday 28 June WHO issues first global report on Artificial Intelligence in health and 6 guiding principles for its design and use. It highlights that the growing use of AI for health presents governments, providers, and communities with both opportunities and challenges. The summit will be live streamed. WHO's DG will be joined by 35 ministers of health from the SIDS and a number of heads of state to discuss the urgent health challenges and needs they face. The Summit will close with a press conference on Tuesday 29th June hosted by the WHO DG and other participants from the high level dialogue (to be confirmed). The provisional agenda will be uploaded here shortly: Strategic Actions in Small Island Developing States (who.int) 30 June - 2 July The Generation Equality Forum (GEF) Beijing+25 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action on Women. The Generation Equality Forum (GEF) is a series of global gatherings to celebrate the progress achieved, as well as to chart a course of action to address areas in which challenges remain. The GEF is co-convened by UN Women along with the Governments of France and Mexico, in close partnership with civil society and youth activists. WHO is leading in key areas of the Generation Equality Form, especially the Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence (co-led by UN Women and WHO) and the Gender Equal Health and Care Workforce Initiative (GEHCWI) with France, Women in Global Health and WHO. At the Paris Forum, from 30 June to 2 July 2021, WHO will be: leading a High-Level Session on the Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence; hosting a high level session on the GEHCWI; and launching the full British Medical Journal (BMJ) special series of papers on women’s health and gender equality, with an accompanying podcast series. Thursday, 1 July WHO will host a press briefing to launch the latest figures on progress on household drinking water, sanitation and hygiene 2000 - 2020 in the Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) report, a joint WHO and UNICEF report.  The JMP presents estimates on household access to safely managed drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services over the past five years, and assesses progress toward achieving the sixth sustainable development goal (SDG) to ‘Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030’.   The report provides data on the number of people worldwide who could not wash their hands with soap and water at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time, the report also presents emerging national data on menstrual health. Friday 2 July Virtual Forum -- From 30 million cases to zero: China creates a malaria-free future Over the course of seven decades, China, the world’s most populous country, succeeded in driving down its malaria burden from 30 million cases per year in the 1940s to zero in 2017 – a notable achievement that has been maintained to this day. Representatives from China’s National Health Commission and frontline workers will join malaria programme managers from other regions, WHO experts and global partners in a virtual forum to share reflections and perspectives on China’s malaria elimination journey. Discussions will be in English with simultaneous interpretation provided in Chinese, French and Spanish. A detailed agenda will be shared in due course.
