TikTok used its first public business event, TikTok World, to announce initiatives aimed at brand safety, e-commerce and creator marketing. Partnerships with companies such as DoubleVerify and Oracle, features like an updated Creator Marketplace and a Creative Center, and improved in-stream shopping tools were among the presentation's highlights.

YouTube Studio now shows creators which of their videos get viewers to come back and which attract new audiences, as well as giving mobile users access to member and viewer metrics. Facebook's recent assurances about maintaining brand safety and stopping disinformation have not completely convinced executives at companies such as Omnicom, which is calling for third-party audits of the platform. IPG Mediabrands' Magna reports that most social media outlets lack strict policies about misinformation and that many of their guidelines are confusing.

Measurement Matters
Awin analysis of more than 20 million Instagram posts revealed 76% hid required disclosure hashtags such as #advertisement, #gifted, #affiliate, #ad and #sponsored. Only 5% of creators led with the elements, while 59% inserted them mid-post, 24% placed them after the main content and 12% made them part of the comments.

Kit Kat goes viral with eating etiquette question

Nestle's Kit Kat brand generated 4.3 million views on Instagram and TikTok within 48 hours of launching the "Have a Bite" campaign, which asks people if it is OK to bite into the bar without breaking off a section first. The Kit Kat Australia and New Zealand campaign riffs off a social media debate and serves as an organic way to connect with fans, "[r]ather than trying to engineer a discussion from scratch," said Simon Koay, associate creative director at campaign agency Wunderman Thompson Australia.
