Free Printable + Why I DO NOT use the slow cooker function on my instant pot

Hi Indiana Jones!

I've had a few questions lately about how to convert recipes from slow cooking to pressure cooking...so I thought I'd answer them here! 

And no, I'm not talking about using the slow cooker function on the Instant Pot.

While you can use the slow cooker function on the Instant Pot, I don't recommend it. 

The Instant Pot is a PRESSURE COOKER. That's what it does well. 

My experience (and others too!) is that it doesn't slow cook well. It bubbles, gurgles, overheats, and just doesn't do a fine job of slow cooking. 

Here are my recommendations for these appliances...

• Slow cook in a slow cooker
• Pressure cook in a pressure cooker

The end. ;) 

But why? Well, slow cookers are perfectly calibrated to cook for longer periods of time. They slow cook and soften food in a perfect slow cooker-y kind of way. 

Electric pressure cookers (instant pots) are designed and calibrated to perfectly pressure cook foods. They just cook differently.

And because of that, I don't use the slow cook function on the Instant Pot.

Instead, I convert recipes using the modifications and conversions in this handy free printable!
