At this year's conference, we are excited to have experts in the field of human rights share their knowledge with us. Subjects covered during the virtual conference include Civil Rights Topics in Education, Equal Opportunity Issues of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and Bias and Countermeasures. Civil Rights Topics in Education Join us for a discussion on civil rights topics in education, including an overview of the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education, a discussion of emerging civil rights issues in education, access for students with disabilities, institutions' response to COVID-19, and tips and tools for educational administrators for assessing their compliance, policies, and procedures.

| Equal Opportunity Issues of the COVID-19 Pandemic Join human rights experts for an examination of equal opportunity issues of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jack Vasquez will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected employment discrimination law, and John C. Yang will address the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the Asian American community, including an increase of hate incidents targeting Asian Americans. Kristi Kingston and Andrew Metcalf will discuss legal concerns employees and employers are raising in light of developments related to COVID-19, including workplace vaccination policies.

| Bias and Countermeasures The vast majority of the information humans process is done unconsciously. The steps we take together and individually are important in reducing bias and encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession. This segment will help participants learn to identify several implicit biases; understand multiple impacts of bias on justice and in the legal profession, particularly based on sex and race; and gain knowledge of how to help interrupt bias in the legal profession.

| Contributions Under the Missouri Human Rights Act (Act), the Missouri Human Rights Commission (MCHR) is authorized "[t]o accept grants, private gifts, and bequests and establish funds to dispose of such moneys so long as the conditions of the grant, gift, or bequest are not inconsistent with the purposes of this chapter and are used to achieve the purposes of the Act." § 213.030.1(13) RSMo. The function of the commission is "to encourage fair treatment for and to foster mutual understanding and respect among, and to discourage discrimination against, any racial, ethnic, religious or other group protected by this chapter, members of these groups or persons with disabilities." § 213.020.2 RSMo.
