At least 7 killed, more than 2 dozen injured in 2 weekend shootings: At least seven were killed and more than two dozen were injured when two shootings erupted early Sunday morning. Just after midnight on Sunday, Dallas police responded to reports of a shooting at an event billed as a trail ride and concert where Big Boogie, a rapper from Memphis, Tennessee, was headlining. "Upon arrival, officers learned that multiple victims were shot while attending a concert," police said in a statement. At least 12 people were shot including three juveniles and one was killed, according to the Dallas Police Department. Hours later, another shooting broke out in downtown Sacramento, California, in a popular nightlife area just blocks away from the state Capitol building. Police officers said that there was a "large crowd" in the area and are unsure if the crowd was part of a club or an event. At least 18 were injured and six were killed. The Dallas police and Sacramento police said they are investigating and are still looking for suspects.
Russian invasion of Ukraine 'far from over,' White House chief of staff says: White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain is warning that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is "far from over," despite the claim by Moscow that they are retreating from Kyiv and surrounding areas. Over the weekend, at least seven civilians were killed and 34 were wounded following shelling in Kharkiv, according to the region's prosecutor's office on Sunday. The city of Chernihiv is also 70% destroyed according to Mayor Vladislav Atroshenko. Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put a spotlight on graphic images of casualties coming out of Bucha, Ukraine, which he called, "concentrated evil." "Hundreds of people were killed," Zelenskyy said. "Tortured, executed civilians." In response to the images shared by Ukraine's president's office, several world leaders called it "appalling" and Russia's actions "massive crimes against humanity." While the Biden administration is focused on the crisis overseas, Zelenskyy chastised Western allies for not providing enough weapons against Russia.
Will Smith resigns from Academy for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars: Will Smith resigned his membership from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. In a statement he released on Friday, Smith said he was "heartbroken" over the incident and "betrayed the trust of the Academy." "The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home," he said. The move comes two days after the Academy's Board of Governors announced it is beginning disciplinary procedures against Smith over the incident. In resigning, Smith said he wants to "put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film." He added that he will accept further consequences from the board.
Wrestler born without legs shares why you should strive for your version of success: Zion Clark was born without legs, but he hasn't let that stop him from striving for success. From a young age, he remembers being different from other kids, but he found his passion in sports and wrestling, which he enjoyed because he wasn't looked at differently. "I got into sports and wrestling and stuff when I was 6 years old," Clark told "GMA." "I actually got to focus on something without being treated like complete crap." With his passion for sports, he earned the world record for fastest hand walking and continues to train hard each day to break more records. Currently, he's training to qualify for wrestling in the Olympics, and track and field in the Paralympic Games. "Everybody has the ability to turn their weaknesses into strengths," Clark said.
