| Census Bureau Releases Proof of Concept for Upcoming 2020 Census Product on Detailed Racial and Ethnic Groups and American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes and Villages JAN. 31, 2023 — Today the U.S. Census Bureau released a "Proof of Concept" giving data users an opportunity to review how a new disclosure avoidance methodology would affect an upcoming 2020 Census data product. The upcoming product — the Detailed Demographic and Housing Characteristics File A (Detailed DHC-A) — is planned for release in August 2023 and will include population counts and sex and age statistics for approximately 370 detailed racial and ethnic groups and 1,200 American Indian and Alaska Native tribes and villages. This Proof of Concept applies the new disclosure avoidance methodology to 2010 Census data. The resulting example data demonstrate how detailed race and ethnic groups and American Indian and Alaska Native tribes and villages will receive data based on each group's population size for a given geography. This methodology produces accurate data while ensuring sufficient confidentiality protections. | | Help us spread the word about Census Bureau data!
