| 🚔 Two additional Memphis police officers involved in the encounter with Tyre Nichols during his traffic stop were relieved of duty as the investigation into the Jan. 7 death of Nichols continues, officials announced Monday. Officer Preston Hemphill and an unidentified officer were relieved of their duty a day after the incident, Memphis PD revealed Monday. The Memphis Fire Department also announced Monday that it fired two EMTs and a lieutenant who responded to the scene for failing to properly assess Nichols as he lay beaten on the ground. 🚨 At least 88 people were killed and 157 others were injured after a suicide bomber detonated explosives inside a mosque in northwestern Pakistan on Monday. Among those killed were at least 33 police officers. The Pakistan Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, have claimed responsibility for the attack. ❄️ New York City is poised to break multiple records due to the ongoing "snow drought" and lack of measurable snow this winter. The first being the record for the latest first snow ever recorded during a winter in New York City, which was broken Monday with the city going snowless through Jan. 30 and counting. 📈 The number of births in the United States increased in 2021 for the first time in seven years, reversing trends seen during the pandemic, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report showed there were 3,664,292 babies born in 2021, which is a 1% increase from 2020. 👑 Princess Kate has launched a new project focused on young kids called Shaping Us, a new campaign aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of the first five years of a child's life, according to Kensington Palace. | |
