Conversion therapy = cruelty

Advocate for a more inclusive, kinder world

Hi Friend of Trevor,

Thank you for supporting The Trevor Project's 24/7, free, confidential suicide prevention and crisis intervention work. These life-saving services will always be the heart and soul of our mission.

But we're advocates at Trevor, too. And as advocates, we champion the rights and futures of LGBTQ young people — hoping to prevent them from ever reaching a crisis point. Trevor needs more people in the fight. Join us with your gift today.

DONATE

One initiative that your generosity helps support is "It's Still Happening" — our campaign to protect LGBTQ young people from conversion therapy.

Sometimes referred to as "reparative therapy," or "sexual orientation/gender identity change efforts," conversion therapy is a range of dangerous and discredited practices that purport to change one's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Simply put: conversion therapy is cruelty — and can be life-threatening. Trevor's research team found that LGBTQ young people who underwent conversion therapy were more than twice as likely to report having attempted suicide and more than 2.5 times as likely to report multiple suicide attempts in the past year.

Since Trevor began its fight against conversion therapy — which caring people like you power with your generosity! — 27 states and 100 localities have passed bans to protect young people from conversion therapy. We're working to pass statewide bans in Minnesota, Michigan, and several more states this year, and your gift today will help fuel this life-saving work!

DONATE

I know you believe that LGBTQ young people have the right to be loved and respected for who they are. Translate that belief into life-saving action today. Make a compassionate investment in Trevor's work to ban conversion therapy in every state in the U.S. Please be as generous as you can.

With gratitude and in partnership,
