| ⚠️ More than 80 million Americans were under alert for wind or winter weather Sunday after a massive storm brought rare snowfall to parts of California and continues to move across the country to the East Coast. Over the weekend, a rare blizzard warning was issued for Southern California, bringing several feet of snow to the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. A dusting of snow even reached the Hollywood Hills and higher elevations around San Francisco. 🦠 The U.S. Energy Department reported in a new classified intelligence report that it believes the origins of COVID-19 virus most likely were the result of a lab leak in China. The theory is one of the two prevailing theories under investigation along with natural human exposure to an infected animal. The news was first reported by The Wall Street Journal and has not been confirmed by ABC News. No firm conclusions have yet been made among health and government officials as to the origin of COVID-19. 📈 Growing rates of obesity are contributing to a higher risk for heart disease during and after pregnancy, experts warned. People with obesity are more at risk for potentially deadly pregnancy complications with diabetes, hypertension and pre-eclampsia increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke -- the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths, according to a recent report from the American Heart Association. 🐻 Ben, the Saint Louis Zoo's resident Andean bear, has had a busy February. On Thursday, the 4-year-old bear escaped his habitat around 1 p.m. to wander the zoo for about 50 minutes, marking the second time the bear has escaped this month. The zoo reported no injuries during the incident and Ben is now safely back in his enclosure. ✏️ With the help of TikTok, a Utah teacher has raised over $30,000 in donations for children's unpaid meal balances at school. | |
