The channel's chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall confirmed it had instructed a barrister to carry out a review of the facts in a letter to culture secretary Lucy Frazer. It comes after Schofield quit ITV after he admitted lying about having an affair with a colleague from the show in 2020.
