Stuck on a musical plateau? Do this ->

The two essential ingredients... ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Hey Indiana,

Ever feel like you are spinning your wheels trying to improve your jazz playing?

Like no matter what you do you're just not sounding like the musicians you love and admire?

That can be really frustrating, and I assure you I understand it quite well.

This is also called getting stuck on a "musical plateau."

It's like you've been wandering the desert looking for your next oasis (killer solos, comping, bass lines, etc.), but you keep getting lost and turned around.

So if you find yourself in this position, here are some things you can do:

1. Take a break.

It may seem counterintuitive, but one of the best things you can do is simply put the instrument down for a while and create some space.

This not only will help the things you are learning seep into your subconscious, but when you come back you'll be surprised at how good you actually sound.

2. Practice something different.

This is advice we regularly give to our Inner Circle members.

Trying to improve your jazz solos with the same strategy but not getting results?

Switch it up.

Try approaching the same musical problem you have from a different angle.

Or, try attacking a different musical problem altogether.

The most important way to break free from a musical plateau is to create momentum, so don't stay stuck doing the same things.

3. Get expert help.

I find myself more and more seeking expert help for things that feel hard for me.

Whether it be fitness, improving my business, or music, I'm finding that getting that expert help is helping me get where I want to go faster with less stress.

So go book some lessons with a private teacher.

Go buy that course.

Check out a membership community like our Inner Circle to help propel into the right direction.

Paying for some expert guidance in exchange for leveling up your jazz playing is always worth it.

I actually have 3 more awesome tips for breaking free from musical plateaus that I talk about in my brand new podcast episode.

Feel free to give it a listen!

By the way, if you're ready to start speeding up your progress as a jazz player, without spending long hours in the practice room, sign up for our LJS Inner Circle membership.

Talk to you next week!
