| | 🗣️ President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will meet on Monday to directly negotiate on how to raise the federal government's debt ceiling in the final days before the country defaults on its bills, which could happen as soon as June 1. Such a default would be unprecedented and almost certainly roil the U.S. and international markets, risking major financial damage. 🚨 At least 10 people were killed and nine were wounded when an apparent team of gunmen ambushed a car rally in Baja California, Mexico, about 73 miles from the U.S. border, authorities said. The violence erupted during the second day of a two-day all-terrain car rally, local officials said. Video purportedly of the shooting was posted on social media, showing off-road vehicles lined up along a road and capturing the sounds of screams and numerous rounds of gunfire. 🔥 Several regions in the U.S. are suffering from poor air quality as the smoke from the wildfires burning in Canada makes its way south. A large portion of the U.S. has been seeing smoky skies for a few days, presenting unhealthy conditions for residents with heart or lung conditions, officials said. The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for all of Montana, as well as parts of Idaho, Colorado and Arizona. ⚠️ Target has recalled nearly 5 million of its Threshold candles due to reports of candle jars breaking or cracking during use. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall involving three of Target's Threshold candle products after the retailer received 137 reports of them breaking or cracking during use. 🎶 After three decades of teaching, Jim Stanley, a chorus and piano teacher at Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, is retiring.
